This is a long shot, but it could be Onygena ungulina, described by Emil Rostrup on horse hooves in Denmark (Botanisk Tidsskrift 19: 44 (1894)). It is unusual for Onygena in being sessile. The ascospores were described with an equitorial band like yours.

A very interesting shot, nevertheless. Rostrup even says that another dane, Schumacher, may have described the same as Lycoperdon unguilina (he even proposes the combination while simultaneous describing it as new).

If that is O. unguilina it is probably rather rare. A Danish endemic! If you know someone willing to sequence it, it would be very interesting to see if it belongs in Onygena or some other genus.

I am not the best person to ask about which regions to sequence. Otheres on this site may offer help here. My experience with Leuconeurospora suggests that regions additional to ITS would be useful.

Your collection has red ascospores with prominent crests, more like a species of Aspergillus. Your suggestion of A. rugulosus is probably close.

Thank you Thomas and David for your opinions. Nevertheless, I believe that the Aksel Jørgensen collection is the same as mine. In the second macro image of Aksel, the spores are partially red in mass. The rest seems faded. Under the microscope, the red pigment is hardly noticeable in the form of small red warts. My collection comes from Poland near the city of Bydgoszcz. If anyone would like to compare and sequence my collection, I will gladly provide you with a desiccate. Perhaps this is interesting from the point of view of treating hoof mycoses in horses?

You may be correct. Perhaps the two collections are the same species, and perhaps that is what Rostrup had too. It would be interesting to see that old type specimen.
