Mollisia revincta ?
PASCAL DUBOC,

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
Posible. but for a sound ID one needs vital photos. You could add KOH to see if a transient yellow sap becomes visible. This works even macroscopically.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
o.k., it is the question whether a Pyrenopeziza or a Mollisia - I am not sure. Living paraphyses are necessary. M. revincta shows a yellow reaction, not very strong but distinct.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
You mean your last microphoto? No yellow.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
That seems yellow exudate, the KOH reaction is either inside the paraphyses or extruding homogeneously in the medium.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
It may be that the reaction in M. revincta is variable or a collective species. Anyway, in the dead state it is difficult to be sure about the VBs. usually one sees remnants of the long-cylindrical Vbs, then yours would be a Pyrenopeziza.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
Sorry, I should explain from the beginning. The easiest would be if you read my paper on Vital Taxonomy (Mycotaxon 44, 1992: 333-390) or a brief version on my homepage:
A frequent mistake: If you put a dead anmial in water, it will not revive, unless it is a tardigrada or the like and was only dry, not dead.
VBs are refractove vacuolar bodies. Every Mollisia has them, every Pyrenopeziza not. It is even valuable at the familial level, as Pyrenopeziza is now accepted in the Ploettnerulaceae, Mollisia in Mollisiaceae. Undistorted VBs can only be seen in living paraphyses.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
merci

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
Perhaps you apply pressure to the cover slip? When the apos are still fresh, try a section with a razor blade, that is the softest method. But take care with the slip, there must be enough water so that the slip does not excert too much pressure.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
I am sorry, now, all elements are dead. Your apos are still fresh in the fridge?
Take only water and try a section, not a squash mount.

Re : Mollisia revincta ?
