Asco on possibly Fagus wood
Thorben Hülsewig, 27-12-2020 20:00
Hi there,
2 weeks ago I found this Asco on a possibly Fagus wood.
The spores seem to have a gel coat.
Do you have any idea what this could be ?

best regards,
Thorben

Re : Asco on possibly Fagus wood
This looks too banal. Perhaps a Hyaloscypha without hairs?

Re : Asco on possibly Fagus wood
I don't know, but I always associate Hyaloscypha with the presence of hairs.

best regards,
Thorben

That's right, but ITS showed that hairless or almost so species such as H. minuta (earlier Parorbiliopsis) fuly fall in the genus and closely resemble those with distinct hairs.

This is very interesting and helps me with another asco where I now think it is a Hyaloscypha minuta.

The asco from this topic i save as cf. Hyaloscypha. Dried Material is also present.

Hi

Zotto, I'm probably wrong, but don't you think a lot of the details are very similar to Ciliolarina pinicola, except of course the substrate?
Such a loose association, because the photos do not show all the features.
Ascomata looks slightly overripe?

Re : Asco on possibly Fagus wood
Mirek, I am not sure. Ciliolarina has VBs, though not very distinct, and brownish rough hairs. Also it is drought-tolerant, I guess this one less so.

Hi Zotto

Thank you Zotto for the comment and explanation!

Not everything suited this genre for me too, but that was my first association and I wanted to know on the basis of what features did you reject this genre?
I was only suggesting a similarity to Ciliolarina pinicola. The Thorben collection is definitely not her, the croziers are clearly visible here.
greetings
