Octospora melina

Hi All,

Here is an Octospora which occurred in abundance amongst Bryum and other mosses on quite compacted coastal sand on Anglesey. The apothecia are up to about 3mm. Ascopores are 16.5-18x12.5-14, verrucose with well-spaced warts. The warts are about 0.5 high and wide. Paraphyses are often curved and swollen to 6. Octospora melina seems a reasonable fit unless there are other taxa out there that I'm unaware of.

Best wishes,

Charles.

Re : Octospora melina

Hi Dirk,

Many thanks. That would explain why I couldn't find the name on the Octospora website.
