Found on cow dung scattered between P. kleinii species
I noticed it because of its small size and the fact that it has an umbo on top of the sporangium.
The fruitbody is hyaline in contrast to the one from P. kleinii which has an orange colour. (Photo 4 & 5)
Spore size 5.5-6.3x3.6-3.9 um

Re : Pilobolus umbonatus??
Hello Joop,
I have no doubts about this species.
Compare also with the wonderful portrait from my friend Matthias at Pilzforum.eu.

Re : Pilobolus umbonatus??
Hello Norbert,
Thanks for you response they are very nice pictures indeed.
I am still busy with stacking of photos here is a result of P. kleinii.
I also did find a subsporangular swelling without a sporangium but the bulb on top of the swelling looks like a sporangium.
After a few minutes is disappeared and closed the swelling as if it was a lid without causing the swelling to collapse, a very peculiar find.
Regards,
Joop

Reallistically the only one you can be sure of without the microscope.
