Hypoxylon subticinense
Riet van Oosten, 30-10-2020 21:44
Riet van Oosten
Hello,

Found by Laurens van der Linde, 26-10-2020, The Netherlands.

On a dead tree, 15 cm thick, still standing, leaning against another tree, Hypoxylon just above the ground.

Is this Hypoxylon subticinense?

Spore sizes: Me = 9.8 x 4.2 µm  N = 10

Greetings, Riet

Re : Hypoxylon subticinense?
Hi Riet
Undoubtedly H. subticinense if the borders of the stromata are hairy. Other important characters are the effused, orange brown stromata and the spore size (see also Hypoxylon key on NMV website). Did the collector note also the tree species?

Hi Eduard,

Thank you very much!

Laurens thinks its Acer.

I just got a picture in full size to look at the details and used the key you mentioned.

Indeed hairy edge young stromata!
