Hymenoscyphus carpinicola (?) sur vaccinium
Louis DENY, 10-09-2020 17:52
Bonsoir,

Merci

Hmm, are the apos really 1.5 mm diam.?

My first idea was Allophylaria (Pezizellaceae), because I supposed to see a distinct stipe.

But this is not clear.

Is your Lugol strong enough? I do not see a yellow medium. Good would be to see the apical ring of a dead ascus in IKI, though my pics of P. carpinicola do not show a strong difference to Allophylaria.

Thanks Zotto.

I will recheck apical apparatus. My Lugol is 6 month old. Is it already too much?

I did not know Allophylaria. Can you please tell me are the characteristic of this genius?  I'm a little bit lost, there is so much to discover!

My Lugol keeps many years, but sometimes you need to add black crystals of iodine, though I didn't this since years. Good is a glass bottle to avoid escape if iodine.

Allophylaria usually has a gelatinized excipulum but in living samples this may also look like prismatica. The shape of ascus apex is more T- or V-shaped, similar as in Pezicula.

The genus is rlated to Calycina, but not to Hymenoscyphus, though often confused with it.
