Hymenoscyphus on Picea cone
Juuso Äikäs, 19-07-2020 21:21
These were growing in a paludified depression on a Picea abies cone that had lost it's scales.

The asci didn't seem to have croziers and in Lugol's some gave a positive reaction and others didn't. Medulla of textura intricata. I don't know what term would describe the ectal excipulum.

Spores:

(12.5) 17.9 - 19.7 (20.4) × (3.6) 4.1 - 4.39 (4.4) µm
Q = (3.4) 4.1 - 4.7 (4.8) ; N = 8
Me = 17.9 × 4.2 µm ; Qe = 4.3

This is Phaeohelotium fulvisudulm. Obligatory is the absence of croziers. Iodine reaction is usually bright blue.

I found P. fulvidulum (which I assume you meant) in your folders (Phaeohelotium monticola group) and seems to fit again quite nicely!
