Lichenized ascospores
Shane John, 08-07-2020 00:01
I would ask the indulgence of the group to perhaps guide me in the right direction / suggest a genus name for lichenized ascopores.

I am having trouble finding descriptions and/or illustrations.

I see many "greenish" ascospores in the air and wonder if they might be "lichenized"..

Dear John,

without any further information or photo's it is impossible to understand what you are talking about.

cheers,

Stip

Re : Lichenized ascospores
Could it be that you mean aerophytic unicellular algae?

Re : Lichenized ascospores
Perhaps I was too hasty in my submission. I had been taught in my mycology classes that "lichenized ascospores" were somewhat "greenish", but after doing some research this month, I realize that color is not a good indicator of an ascomycete associated with lichens.

Does anyone have a direction I could go in, i.e., literature/textbook that would help me understand more completely?

Thank you in advance
John
