Pezizellaceae on ferns
Enrique Rubio, 27-03-2020 18:47
Enrique RubioHi to evreyone
Although it was not in perfect condition for study, I would like to know your opinion about these tiny, subsessile, finely pubescent ascomata growing on rachis ferns. Marginal cells are not very protrusive, obtuse and contain large refracting vacuoles as the paraphyses. Asci arising from croziers with an apical pore IKI b maybe of the Calycina-type. No rounded cells seem to be seen in the excipulum.
I'm thinking of some species in the genus Calycellina.
Many thanks in advance

Re : Pezizellaceae on ferns
Calycellina is an option. Perhaps it would be worth testing CRB for the spores.

Are the asci 8-spored or 4 spores smaller?

Re : Pezizellaceae on ferns
It's hard to give you an answer, Zotto, but I'd say there are eight spores of approximately similar size. The Crb on the spores is impossible given the difficulty of seeing free spores.
