Re : Wentiomyces sibiricus?
Hello Simon
There are five records for Wentiomyces sibiricus in FRDBI1, all from England (Devon, Norfolk, Worcestershire, Yorkshire), four on Filipendula and one on Larix. There are also records of Wentiomyces sp., one from Chamaenerion in Gloucstershire, three from Larix, one from Eucalyptus and one from Vaccinium - the last two from Wester Ross - all of these may well be referable to W. sibiricus but that would need confirmation. My gut feeling is that the species is unlikely to be strongly host-specific.
I hope this helps - it would be excellent if the data set can be made publically available again . The plan is for this to be in FRDBI2, I think, but I don't know what the timescale is for that.
Best wishes
Paul

Re : Wentiomyces sibiricus?
Many, many thanks, Anthony. I have been keenly feeling the loss of the this dataset.

Re : Wentiomyces sibiricus?
Many thanks Paul. I too suspect that it occurs more widely and on more substrates than the records suggest. It is, undoubtedly, a very wee thing, but very distinctive in its macroscopic appearance.

Re : Wentiomyces sibiricus?
Many thanks, Andrew. It is useful to get a wider view of distribution. I tend to be very parochial in my mycological preoccupations
Best wishes,
Simon
