Eutypella scoparia anamorph?
Ethan Crenson, 22-07-2019 19:33
I took these photos a while back and I was wondering if they show the teleomorph and anamorph of Eutypella scoparia developing together.  What I think may be the anamorph are the feathery grayish green forms that are growing among the ostiolar necks.

Thank you!

Ethan

Re : Eutypella scoparia anamorph?
Hi Ethan,

such Hyphomycete is frequently found associated with developing stromata of E. scosparia (now Peroneutypella). Wheteher it is a parasite or the anamorph is an old debate, yet unresolved as far as I know. Anamorphs of Diatrypaceae usually are coelomycetous and occur in pycnidia but this does not rule out other possibilities. A molecular comparison with the sexual morph would give the answer. If you ever find something about this topic in the literature, please tell me.

Cheers,

Jacques
