Filip Fuljer, 21-07-2019 18:33
Filip FuljerHello,

i collected whitish discomycetes on decomposing Typha sp. stems last week in Slovakia (Kysuce region), but i really cant identify that collection, can someone help me, please?

Spores - elipsoid to sausage shape?, 9,6-15,4x1,87-3,03µm, almost unvisible in light microscope
Asci - 39,1-61x4,69-6,8µm, IKI red in Lugol reagement (ascus pore red), i am not sure about croziers, check pic please
Paraphyses - apices of paraphyses capitate, 2,92-4,31µm broad

On Typha sp. on very wet place

Best regards and thanks in advance,

Filip

Re : White discomycete on Typha sp.
Hello Filip,

I am sure these are croziers. The red ascus IKI reacion is amazing! The strongly refractive VBs suggest a Calycina, but the globose excipular cells with clavate magrinal cells with VBs, together with sessile apos remind me of a Mollisia.

I think it fits well Mollisia lothariana, a species that occurs from white to dark greybrown.
