Torrentispora ? Long necked, partially immersed pyrenomycete
Ethan Crenson,

A couple of days ago I found these long-necked, partially immersed pyrenomycetes growing amid a fruiting of Scutellinia erinaceus. Fruiting bodies are tough and leathery. The necks do not appear to be sulcate. Asci are short-stipitate, measuring 82-85 x 8.5-9µm, IKI-. Spores in water look non-septate, guttulate, smooth, 11-12 x 5µm. In Cotton blue they look rather thick-walled and 1-septate. I made a collection similar to this a couple of years ago in the Bronx and there was a very helpful conversation pointing toward Torrentispora, Calyptosphaeria, so I assume that I should look in a similar direction with this collection. But perhaps I do not have enough data here. I'd be grateful for any help.
Thank you!

Re : Torrentispora ? Long necked, partially immersed pyrenomycete
Lothar,
Indeed, the Scutellinia in the photos are Scutellinia erinaceus. But I am looking at the black pyrenomycetes that I indicate in the photos with a white arrow. Do you see the necks emerging from under the damp wood and the partially immersed venter in the first three photos? It is from those that I obtained the asci and spores in the remaining photos.
