On Carpinus we found some multi-peritheciate stromata with a blue metallic shine.Stromata were mostly immersed. With KOH 5% a greyish pigment was extracted and we could also observe a slightly dehiscent perispore.Spores measured 10-11x4µ.
We thought it matched quite well with the description of Hypoxylon macrocarpum from Pouzar(1978).
Could you agree?
The perithecia should be more or less cylindrical (see next issue of Coolia).
Eduard
Hello Eduard,
If it not macrocarpum, what would you suggest?
cheers
Thomas
I think you are right. I have been misleaded by the apical apparatus.
That also explains the minimal reaction on KOH.
I discussed the matter with Bernard Declercq who thinks is Nemania serpens var. colliculosa.
