Macrodiplodiopsis desmazieri (?)
Ethan Crenson, 12-04-2018 05:14
In the Bronx, New York City.  On Platanus x acerifolia.  Dark pustules in the bark layer, showing conidia scattered on the surface. Conidia brown, 3- septate, 50-70 by 18-22µm.  I think i detect mucoid sheathe in some of the photos.  Any comments would be helpful.  Thanks.

No, I don't think so. Size doesn't fit, and the spores seem to have long tubular appendages... I would like to investigate the specimen in vital condition - could you please send? Best wishes, Hermann

Re : Macrodiplodiopsis desmazieri (?)
Hello Hermann.  Thank you for your reply.  I suppose the tubular appendages you mentioned are what I interpreted as a mucroid sheathe.  I can send you a sample.  There is not a lot of material to work with, though.  Is M. desmazieri in the neighborhood, at least?
Regards,
Ethan
