Mystery "Hyphomycete"
Chris Yeates, 03-04-2018 23:19
Chris YeatesBonsoir tous

a dematiaceous hyphomycete has appeared around the end of a small indet. twig collected as part of an aero-aquatic style collection (from anaerobic swamp). Images attached, all in unstained lactophenol, except where indicated. Again it has (potentially) good characters:

*    conidia formed simply, sympodially, schizolytically at the top of an unbranched conidiophore
*    conidia forming long chains, which break up in water mounts
*    conidia with truncate ends (sometimes a central point/hump can be seen - arrowed)
*    conidia 3-septate, maturing with one or two darker central cells
*    conidia 21.7-27.7 x 5.0-5.7µm

I've tried keying it out several times, and searched through the plates in Seifert et. al. to no good purpose. I suspect it may be undescribed, but if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Amitiés

Chris
