Could this be Psilocistella conincola?
Jan Knuiman, 21-02-2018 13:16
Hello,

We found these small (cup diameter up to 1 mm) white and stalked discomycetes on a Pinus cone. Spores (n=11) measured in water were 5.0-5.9 x 2.1-2.9 micron and asci 30-39 x 4.5-6.2 micron. Paraphyses coloured strongly copper red with IKI-solution. Hairs up to 35 micron long. Could this be Psilocistella conincola?

Kind regards,
Jan

Judging from the hairs this could well be, although they are often more curved. Typically some cuneate spores occur.

Which month did oyu collect it? It should be there now as it occurs from Nov. till May.

We collected it two days ago.

We also made some more pictures of the margin and hairs at higher magnification. Do you think their shape is (more) compatible with that of Psilocistella conincola?

Kinds regards, Jan

These pics are good but I am not sure. The curved hairs atre mainly on the flanks, not so at the margin. You can compare in my folders:

Hi,

I am interested in the material. I'd like to extract it if it is an ample sample / otherwise ok?

Can't add anything. Seppo Huhtinen here behind my back also commented: "possibly...". Psilocistella needs a lot of work (and collecting) still. Not sure if I'll manage to nail it in my thesis.
