Re : Spadiceiform
Hi Mal,
I think this is derived from spadix, e.g. shape of a corn cob.
Cheers Martin

Re : Spadiceiform
Hello Malcolm and Martin
I have find this
"Blend of sessile flowers on a single spike or panicle spindle wrapped before flowering by a large bract called spathe, which is found especially in palms and arums. [This diverticulum] has the shape of a bag slightly swollen in a club, bounded by a special membrane, and constitutes what is called spadice".

Re : Spadiceiform
Thanks for the replies. So I assume rather than swollen at the apex like most paraphyses they are swollen just below the apex.

Re : Spadiceiform
Rather - I think - like the Arum spadix, with a narrow parallel-sided basal portion and then broadening (again more or less parallel-sided) for the rest of its length. Out of interest what is the fungus to which this epithet has been applied?
