Re : lophodermium
The keys are mostlly devided between hosts: gymnosperms, angiosperms and monocots. Do you have a particular specimen? On what type of host?

Hello Jason,
Do your keys cover Lophodermium species on dead stems of herbaceous plants? I seem to have a sample on Filipendula ulmaria.
Thank You,
With Best Wishes,
Peter.

Re : lophodermium
Hi Peter, I am looking at Tehon's 1935 Monographic Rearrangement of Lophodermium and see an L. spiraeae that is listed on page 10 - species that are poorly known and not covered by Tehon in his monograph. Spiraea ulmaria is the old name for Filipendula ulmaria and I found this by checking Tehon's index (but not the host index as it wasn't listed there). The protologue can be found under the listing for this genus in Index Fungorum: http://www.indexfungorum.org/Names/NamesRecord.asp?RecordID=214074. As far as I know, Tehon's monograph is the only source with keys to species of Lophodermium on dicots. Best - Jason

Re : lophodermium
Hello Jason and John,
Thanks for the additional information.
I had found the entry in Index Fungorum for L. spiraeae and noticed that it was not an accepted taxon (not in green).
From the 1935 monograph, L. spiraeae would appear to be lacking in type material and therefore not treated.
The sample which I collected yesterday is unfortunately not viable, probably because of its age. It will be interesting to see if I manage to find any fresh fruit bodies later this year at the same site.
Thank you for your help with this.
With Best Wishes,
Peter.
