Pyreno makes Quercus wood red
Matthias Mann, 24-01-2017 23:00
Matthias MannDear Forum!
First tiny white dots on Quercus-wood aroused my attention and then I saw the red colored wood. Under binocle I found following Pyreno. Could the white spots be it's anamorph? -all speculation.

Hi, Peter!
Mir fehlt Bestimmungsliteratur. Gibt es Schlüssel?
Dein Pyreno schaut auf den ersten Blick noch ähnlicher aus.
Viele Grüße!
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

for Thyridaria you should read Wehmeyer 1941, for Melanomma Holm 1957. There has been published a paper about Melanommataceae phylogeny: Tian et al., Fungal Diversity (2015) 74:267–324.

I am adding a few plates for comparison.

Regards,
Björn

Re : Pyreno makes Quercus wood red
Hi,

regarding Thyridaria I would recommend to consult this paper by Jaklitsch & Voglmayr: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/308601209_Hidden_diversity_in_Thyridaria_and_a_new_circumscription_of_the_Thyridariaceae?ev=prf_pub

Thyridaria rubronotata was therein combined to the new genus Cyclothyriella.

Best wishes,
Gernot

Hallo Matthias,
so ganz sicher bin ich mir auch nicht, deshalb ja auch das Fragezeichen. Ich schicke Dir die entsprechenden Auszüge von HOLM 1957 und MUNK 1957 per PN.
Grüße Peter.

Hi,
there worlds lie in between. The view about the newest literature is to be had in my opinion already problematically. How only some control !
Greetings Peter.

That makes the thing exciting! It will take me some time now to be clued up on the different sights. Incidentally I have to do my job, but I stay tuned.
Thank you all, I am aware that it will become complicated.

Re : Pyreno makes Quercus wood red
Aaah that makes everything clear. THIS is the real C. rubronotata, I have previously thought of this one to be rubronotata, but the pictures of Enrique Rubio here on ascofrance made me being in doubt about the correctness of the determination. I have a lot of similar looking species with no names, and I am now going to check them again :)

Regards,
Björn
