HelloThese small (0.15 - 0.2 mm), white Saccobolus were cultivated on deer dung.
The spore packages were (40)45(50) x (15)17(17.5) µ with the individual spores (17)18.2(20) x (7.8)8.5(9) µ. The granular surface was covered with deep fissures forming a an almost complete but uneven reticulum.
This seems to lead to S beckii in the van Brummelen monograph but the ornamentation does not look right. Is there anyone with experience of this group who could suggest which species this might be.

Je pense qu'il devrait s'agir de S. verrucisporus, l'ornementation ne me parrait pas assez épaisse pour correspondre à S. beckii. Mais il conviendrait d'oberver des ascospores matures, sans ornementations, soit montées dans du KOH ou NH3 pour dissoudre le pigment, pour voir si les ascospores sont ou non ventrues (cf Brummelen p. 193,fig. 66 d., comme indiqué pour S beckii

Effectivement, d'accord avec René, l'ornementation ne semble pas assez épaisse pour S.beckii, mais peut être Malcolm pourrais tu faire une photo plus nette et essayer de mesurer cette épaisseur. L'ornementation ayant tendance aussi à évoluer avec la maturité une autre préparation pourrait être utile pour confirmer ou non.

I had tried to get a more detailed photo in Meltzers KOH even Chloral Hydrate without much success.
This time in NH3. Not sure if either photo helps.

The ornamentation seems thick, closer to S.beckii, as well as spores, somewhat portly, without ornamentation.

L'ornementation semble épaisse, plus proche de S.beckii, ainsi d'ailleurs que les spores, un peu ventrues, sans l'ornemention. Quand penses tu ?
