Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Lieber Thorben, You should try to find conidiogenous cells. Without seeing these I am quite lost with your pictures. Or at least aa low power view to see how the conidia are arranged on the synnema. Good luck Walter

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Guten Morgen Thorben. This seems to be a Botryosporium, but I do not recall striate conidia in this genus. Perhaps an artefact of preparration? Cheers Walter

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Hallo Walter
Possibly that the striate conidia are an artefact.
I'm not sure about this, because i prepare in water with fresh fungus (was 3 hours old).
Sometimes there was conidias with no ornament, but mostly with ornament.
I save the fungus as cf. Botryosporium.
best regards,
Thorben

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
I am working on another Botryosporium found in the wild on acanthus mollis, and I am pretty sure that your species is B. longibrachiatum. The closely related B. pulchellum should have dichot. branched conidiophores.Â
Best regards
Stephen

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Hi, Stephen,
I think you might be right with your assumption Botryosporium longibrachiatum.
Unfortunately this cannot be confirmed anymore, because I have no more material.
The probably striped ornamentation of the conidia could perhaps also be a dry damage.
best regards,
Thorben

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
You are welcome Thorben
I agree re shrivelling of spores, although usually they swell up in water. Maybe they require more time for that and you mounter/viewed in a shirt time.Â
Nice pics by the way.
