Drepanopeziza populorum?
Garcia Susana, 02-03-2016 08:52
Hi

I have found this ascomycete growing in leaves of Populus nigra.
Size between 150-250 um in diameter. Subglobosa form, immersed in the substrate, erumpent, blackish brown color.
I think Drepanopeziza populorum, but I have no documentation.
You can confirm or refute the determination?

Thank you, greetings

Susana

Re : Drepanopeziza populorum?
Dear Susana

This is obviously a Drepanopeziza! In Rimpau 1962 I see that D. tremulae has spores over 3:1 l/w ratio, while D. populorum max. 3:1. Apothecia should be hemispherical and over 200 µm diam. and spores over 12 µm long in D. populorum, so I would agree. I assume that the asci are always amyloid in this genus.
