Re : Peritecios negros 30-5-15
Hi,

this is rather similar to Nodulosphaeria robusta. Did you see the appendages at both spore endings?

björn

Hi,
I've corrected my statement.
Here the names from IF.
Current Name:
Leptosphaeria robusta (Strasser) E. Müll., Sydowia 4(1-6): 298 (1950)
Synonymy:
Leptosphaeria derasa f. robusta Strasser, Verh. zool.-bot. Ges. Wien 57(1): 315 (1907)
Nodulosphaeria robusta (Strasser) L. Holm, Symb. bot. upsal. 14(no. 3): 90 (1957)
Ophiobolus robustus (Strasser) Shoemaker, Can. J. Bot. 54(20): 2389 (1976)

Described on Senecio species.
Greetings Peter.

Re : Peritecios negros 30-5-15
Hi there,

For me, the species belongs to Nodulosphaeria rather than to Leptosphaeria due to the appendages the spores have on both endings, which seems to be a no-go for Leptosphaeria.

IF is not always up-to-date, Paul Kirk has written that he is responsible for over 500.000 taxa, and that his work depends on reader's mails for corrections and misunderstood names.

I am working with lots of Nodulosphaeria, Ophiobolus, Entodesmium and Leptosphaeria species and I have noticed that there are some curious combinations which do not make any sense, they otherwise aren't supported by any genetical research, so the combinations are not comprehensible at all.

björn
