Another Scutellinia
Paul Cannon, 31-01-2015 19:01
Hello everyone
I have this collection from Skye. I identified it initially as S. cejpii, but the ascospore size fits S. heterosculpturata better, and the spore ornamentation appears to show tubercles that are quite varied in size. I have the Schumacher monograph with its nice SEM pictures, but it's not easy to compare these with light micrographs. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'll post a macro image here, but see also this link for micro images. The ascospores measure 19.5-23.5 x 10.5-11.5 µm (mean 21 x 11 µm, mean Q 1.93).

Click on the words "this link" - for some reason the link is there but the text is not in a different font.

Adio Paul,

Sorry for delay, influenza virus, big body-wash !

Yes, probably S. cejpii (form of spores, type and form of hairs) but difficult to see ornamentation with this sort of microscopy. It's better in CB under "normal" microscope.

Re : Another Scutellinia
Thank you for your help. I'll find some cotton blue and see if it helps. Hope you're feeling better now. Best wishes. And thank you also for the legaliae id.
