black discs mystery
Chris Yeates, 02-03-2014 21:31
Chris YeatesBonsoir tous
found yesterday on a decorticated Salix twig; these black discs looked more 'discomycete'-like than they perhaps do here. I am very confused: everything about them is thick-walled: excipulum of mollisioid textura globosa, but very thick-walled (more like bees' honeycomb; asci 8-spored and thick-walled, widest at apex; ascospores becoming 1-septate, also rather thick-walled; paraphyses again thick-walled and fused together at their apices by dark-brown amorphous matter, the asci being rather widely spaced. No evidence of lichenization. Any help gratefully received.
Cordialement
Chris

Hi Chris,

did you have tested with IKI? I don't know if lichen must show necesseraly -green- algae?
