Hyaloscyphaceae on Populus wood
Stefan Blaser, 14-02-2014 10:50
Hello everybody

Can anyone give me some advice on this Hyaloscyphaceae?

It grows abundant on a Populus log.

Macro:  See Photo. Size up to around  1 mm in diam.

Micro:  Asci 50-60 x 5-6 µm, hooked, porus IKI blue. Spores mostly slightly clavate, 9-10.5 x 2.8-3.5 µm. Paraphyses nearly cylindrical, 1.5 µm diameter, abundant and rather adhesive to each other.  Margin with hairs. These are hyaline, thin to slightly thick-walled, cylindrical, mostly naked, agglutinated, 2-3 µm in diameter. For more details see photos.

Thank you for any help

Stefan

hi stefan, it looks more like a cistella to me. i think there are little warts on the hairs (apikal) sometimes? it seems so ... c. dentata would be an idea.

best

Re : Hyaloscyphaceae on Populus wood
Hi Dirk

Yes, there were small warts at the apices of some hairs! And from a first quick search, Cistella dentata seems to fit with most microcharacters.

Thanks a lot!
