Black cushions on a poplar twig
Karl Keck, 04-02-2014 15:24
Karl KeckHello everybody,

These black cushions I've found in a riparian forest on a poplar twig.
They break out of the bark.
The spores are round-oval. With a diameter of 9-11 x 8 to 9.5 microns.

I'm stuck with a determination. Can anyone help?

Thanks and regards,
Karl

Re : Black cushions on a poplar twig
Hi Karl,

those conidia are very globose... but maybe it is Dothichiza populea (I send you Butin's paper) which is currently Chondroplea populea (Sacc. & Briard) Kleb.

Edit: and here is Sutton's plate under Discosporium_populeum

Hello Martin,
thanks for your answer, the determination of this anamorph fungus, the link and Sutton's plate.
R. sent a private mail with the same information (thanks R.!).
Regards,
Karl
