Lachnum on Schoenoplectus
Marcus Yeo,

I found this discomycete recently growing on dead stems of Schoenoplectus lacustris in the UK. Details as follows:
Apothecia up to 0.8Â mm across. Sessile. With pale orange discs.
Asci 70-85 x 8-10 µm. No croziers seen (but I'm not certain they are absent).
Spores 15-18 x 3-3.5 µm, with several oil bodies (ca 40% oil content).
Paraphyses extending 10-20 µm beyond asci, with many small oil bodies. 3-4 µm wide.
Hairs ca 50 x 2 µm. Granular throughout. Cylindrical with rounded apices. Â
The attached images are not very good but hopefully show the main features reasonably well.Â
The best fit I can find using Nordic Macromycetes and Mycokey is Lachnum albidoroseum though the colour of the apothecium is described as pink or rose whereas my specimen was orange.
I'm still very much a beginner with ascomycetes - this is my first post on Ascofrance. Any help with identification would be very gratefully received!
Merci
Marcus

Re : Lachnum on Schoenoplectus
yes, it is, and albidoroseum is a synonym.
