Re : Hysteriaceae de Panama
Hi,
this is most probably a member of Rhytidhysteron, I think. Do the spores have longitudinal septa?
regards,
björn

Re : Hysteriaceae de Panama
yes, assuming that the spores are around 25 x 9 µm?
If you have KOH you can test the colour change from orange to pink (dissolving in the medium).

Re : Hysteriaceae de Panama
"It looks like a discomycete in the Pezzizales. But the three septate dark ascospores are not typical of this group. It may be Rhytidhysteron rufulum, but this usually has red pigmentation not yellow like yours. Also it starts closed then opens along a suture to form an assymetrical disk. Yours is symmetrical. I am sorry I can't be of much help here.
Sincerely,"

Re : Hysteriaceae de Panama
Dear Eric
I think this starts also closed and opens by a slit. The young apos on the photos seem to indicate this.
Yes, it looks more yellow. I recall that the genus is not easy and maybe more species exiat than are described hitherto.
