Unknown Xylaria from the Tropical House
Maren Kamke, 08-06-2013 08:33
Maren KamkeHello again,
I found this one one wood (Angiospermae) in the Tropical House of the Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg.
It is black, coralloid, up to 3 cm wide and 1,5 cm high, with a 2mm wide stalk. Perethecia are 0,2 mm wide. The surface is irregular cracked and warty.
Spores are dark brown with a germ slit. Spores are (11-13) 11,7x4,25 (4-5) µm. Asci up to 110 x 6, IKI positive, blue, porus 4 x 2 µm.
Paraphyses 1,5 µm wide.
I think it is a Xylaria sp.

Thanks for your help
Regards Maren
