Nectriella sp. on Impatiens
Björn Wergen, 24-05-2013 12:23
Björn WergenHi friends,

I have found another Nectriella, which is near N. dakotensis, but with verrucose, bigger spores and longer setae. It has very small 0,1 mm broad, orange yellow fruitbodies with a distinct whitish ostiolus and surrounding, redbrown setae. I have tried to find this out with Rossman's Family of Bionectriaceae, but stucked between N. alpina and N. halonata, which do not fit this finding.

Short description:
Sp. 11-16x2,5-4µm, slightly verrucose, 1septate. Asci 45-55x6-7µm. setae 60-90x5-6µm. On Impatiens glandulifera.

Any other ideas?

regards,
björn

edit: I think this IS N. halonata. Probably a small spored form?

Hi, Björn,
did you test KOH and lactic acid?

Christian

Hi Christian. What does KOH do? I will test it directly.

Re : Nectriella sp. on Impatiens
I have tested it, but there was no reaction either with KOH nor with lactic acid.

I think your fungus is not N. halonata, I saw this species, it is not like this. Could you show an image of the ascomatal wall in vertical section?

Hmmm the fruitbodies are very soft and impossible for me to cut. What can I do? Just drying?
