Peziza
Gernot Friebes, 20-12-2011 12:17
Hi again,

here I have a Peziza which I received from W. Schössler. He found it on the 13.XI.2011 in an old stone pit without any prior snow smelt. The ascospores don't have any oil drops, are ellipsoid and finely verrucouse when mature (in CB) and measure (15.5)18.5-20(20.5) x 10-12 µm. Paraphyses are distinctly moniliform (first drawing). Outgrowths of the excipulum are somewhat irregularly knobbed (second drawing). I think it might belong to the P. varia-complex but ascospores are to large compared to what we found in literature. P. ninguis is also close to this find and it was already found at this area (in Jannuary after snow melt). However, I don't think that the deeply cupulate fruit bodies fit P. ninguis. We're looking forward to your help!

Best wishes,

Gernot
