On a Fagus log lying in mud of pond, soc. Orbilia luteorubella (Tübingen). Sp. *16.5-21 x 6-6.7 µm. Asci with striking inamyloid apical ring.The log is flooded after heavy rain, and the mud permanently moist in drier times.
It reminds me of Annulusmagnus triseptatus but spores early turn brown.

maybe Ascitendus austriacus. This species should have delicately striate spores.

Thanks, I never heard of that genus, nor Ascolacicola where it was first described. Is that only known from the type collection??? Incredible to believe.
The asci are with (dead) 130-140 x 9-10 µm a bit short (protologue: 160-200 x 8.5-10.5). The spores are smooth, in my opinion, but the protologue says nothing of a striation. In any case, this fits quite well!
Was the species redescribed later? I do not have Campbell + Shearer 2004. Nothing is said on the spore guttules, as usually.

I now found that the spores become partly distinctly longitudinally striate when I put them in Melzer! Thereby they shrink a bit from 6-6.7 to 5.6-6.5 µm. Here a pic in water (live)
