Hi to all,I'm searching for the followig paper:FOU
Pyrenomicete found that I can not identify
data:
Superficial pseudothecia. Size 140-175um in diameter
Host: leaves, probably Cornus sp
Hairs: 45-145 x 4 - 5um. Enlarged at the base (x10 - 13um). Thick wall, 2um. Pointed, not septate.
Asci and spores: data on the images
Consulting the bibliography I think it might be the genre Niesslia. But I have no information of the genre.
Could it be? Thanks in advance
A greeting
Susana
Navarra - Spain?

interesting finding. Niesslia species do not have apical structures staining red in Congo. This is hint for a member of Diaporthales (and several smaller groups, like Annulatascaceae). But for now I don't know a species with this features.
regards,
björn
Thanks for your specification, I will try looking in the direction that you indicate.
Regards
Susana

I think this fungus is not Diaporthales because in this order, the asci are free in the centrum.
The genus Niesslia seems fit with Susana's collection. It would be useful to see a photo of ascomata on the substratum and asci observed in water.
Regards,
Christian
Niesslia has quite superficial perithecia (not pseudothecia), which tend to collapse disc-like on drying. I do not think you have a Niesslia. Otherwise I would be very pleased to see it, because I am just trying to revise this large genus.

Perithecia I found were superficial and loosely adherent to the substrate. Finally I believe that they could be of Niesslia ilicifolia.
I collect four perithecia, 2, I use for my observations, the other two I store. If you have interest in them I can send you the sample. Send me your address at private.
A greeting
Susana
I look forward to examining your material and possibly getting a pure culture.
Best regards        Walter
