Melastiza
Malcolm Greaves, 09-10-2013 20:07
Malcolm GreavesI went back to an area where I thought I had found an immature Scutellinia legaliae and although there were no specimens in the same place there were others a few metres away which turned out to be just S trechispora.

While searching I did find two others of note.
This first one is a Melastiza. The spores show some network but have large warts at the junction of the ridges.
I think it could be M flavorubens.

Thanks
Mal

Re : Melastiza
Adio Mal,

You're probably right. The spores seems typical.
I found it last week, common species here.

Thanks Beñat.

With only six records on our national database(and two of those look to be duplicates)  it is obviously rarer at this side of the channel.

Re : Melastiza
Hi Malcolm, Beñat and everyone,

I agree with  Beñat as for the ornementation pattern of your fungus spores,  though the colour here is quite unusual (I see it lemon yellow on your image).
I join pics  of a late collection showing a more usual red colour

It may be rarer in UK but it also may be overlooked

Amitiés

Michel

Re : Melastiza
Michel
It was caused by my poor photography skills rather than the true colour.
Here is a more representative photo.
Still not as red as your specimen but not the artificial yellow of my first effort through the scope.
