Small black fungi on cones of Picea abies
Steffen Lorenz, 18-04-2016 22:59
Hello,

I found several fungi on cones of Picea abies. Here are the two species I couldn't identify:

Fungus 1:
Black, circular, erumpent
Conidia: fusiform, 2-septate, pale coloured, 8-10 x 3-3,5 µm

Fungus 2:
Black, hysteroid, erumpent
Conidia (Ascospores?): hyaline, long cylindrical, 20-50 x 2 µm
I also observed conidia of similar colour, shape and measurements, but with tapering ends.
I think, Lophodermium is possible, but the species on cones and needles of Picea and Pinus I found in the literature have longer spores. Maybe Lirula macrospora?

Best regards
Steffen
