Please help me with the identification of nectrioid fungus with muriform ascospores.
Perithecia are orange-red, cupulate when dry, grouped above the stromata of unknown sterile Pyrenomycete on the dead branches of Aesculus hyppocastanum. Yellow pigment is released after preparation in KOH. Paraphyses are absent, asci in a bundles. Asci 8-sporous, uniseriate, 129-138 ? (9,5) – 12,2 – 12,4, with a short mostly absent stipes. Ascospores hyaline, muriform when mature, 15,6-23,5 x 5,8-7,6.
My guess is that this is something close to Thyronectria. Maybe you will have other ideas.
Grateful before,
Alex

Re : ? Thyronectria sp.
Dear Alex,
Yes I am also thinking of a Thyronectria. I don't see anything that matches. Possibly an undescribed species! You can send this to Hermann Voglmayr.

thank you for the info. it makes me want to look for it on the Aesculus at home.
