Anamorphous on Calystegia sepium
Martin Bemmann, 30-03-2011 22:26
Martin BemmannDear all,

today I found on dead overwintered tendrils of Calystegia/Convolvulus this anamorphous fungus that looks like caviar... ;-)
Any idea? I thought on Trichocladium but lacking proper literature.

Best regards,

Martin

Yes martin, it"s a rust, probably Puccinia convolvuli ou P. isiacae. So, not an asco !

Thanks Gernot and Alain,

yes this is certainly rust and possibly Puccinia convolvulum. I found now similar pictures as mine in the German Phytoparasite-Forum: http://www.pilzfotopage.de/Forum3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3909&p=16487&hilit=calystegia#p16487 "Telien"-pictures 7 and 8.

Best regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

here are some photos of the aecidial stage of Puccinia convolvuli, just in case you want to look for this species when it is getting warmer. ;)

Sorry for being off topic.

Best wishes,

Gernot

Thank you Gernot,

I think I will care for other fungi "when it is getting warmer"... ;-)

Cheers
