Trichobolus dextrinoideosetosus?
Malcolm Greaves, 20-04-2026 22:00
Malcolm GreavesThese pale yellow, hairy ascos were growing on cultivated (unknown) dung.
The hairs are dextrinoid thick walled and have slightly bulbous bases. The smooth spores are 18 x 11.
All of this led me to Trichobolus dextrinoideosetosus.
Is this a reasonable suggestion?
Thanks
Mal

Hi Malcolm.
Could It be a Lasiobolus?

Re : Trichobolus dextrinoideosetosus?
Thanks Enrique, yes it certainly could be. I was basing my id on the much shorter (max 185) and narrower (14) hairs and the fact that they had a strong dextrinoid reaction. There are other fruit bodies growing so I will leave these to mature more and see it the size of the hairs is more in keeping with Lasiobolus.
